As a general rule, people want to be helpful. One of the best ways to engage others is to ask for help. Think about it, if someone asks you for help, doesn’t that trigger the Good Samaritan in you?
For some people, asking for help is a tall order! Sometimes, we are reluctant to ask because we are afraid of imposing on others, or we worry we may look weak or incapable.
Just ask! You might be surprised at the response. Also, when we ask for help, we provide an opportunity to enrich the relationship, engender trust with the other person, and build respect. We are showing the person that we trust them enough to ask and that we value him or her.
