1. Play Politics

People say playing politics is bad, but is it? Aristotle said that politics is the vehicle we created to negotiate our wants and needs when we went from being nomads to living in communities. (I’m paraphrasing Aristotle here; I hope he doesn’t mind.) Part of your job is to negotiate for those things you think are important and necessary. Good politics serve a greater purpose; bad politics promotes the self at the expense of others. Play good politics.

What can I negotiate for that will serve the greatest good?
