My first book, Exponential Leadership, was inspired by Einstein’s theory of relativity; E=MC2. Though not a scientist, I’m interested in understanding how the universe works even though it’s way over my head. It amazes me that Einstein’s theory has been used to unpack the universe for more than one hundred years.
I’m also interested in understanding how leadership works, which led me to ponder this: “If Einstein could create a simple and elegant formula to understand how the universe works, can we do the same thing for leadership?” This caused me to postulate my own Leadership Theory of Relativity formula, R=(A*I)B. “R” represents Results, because leadership is ultimately about achieving some result. “A” is for Action, because to accomplish anything we need to take focused action. “I” is for interrelationships because no one can do it alone and we need to leverage other people, systems, etc. Beliefs (the “B”) are the exponential factor because what we accomplish is deeply connected to and amplified by what we believe.
