88. Wisdom Listens

Too often, we think our job is to talk, to share our thoughts, to direct, to con­vince, to cajole. We are better served when we get others talking. We become smarter by hearing what others think, how they think, what they see, and, ulti­mately, to learn what we don’t know. And they will find us imminently more interesting than if we were talking. Jimi Hendrix said, “Knowledge speaks; wisdom listens.”
